Life Experience:

Jeff & Marty Guide has lived in Northern Virginia since 1981 and moved to Prince William County (PWC) in 1991, prior to PWC we lived in Lorton, Virginia,1986, (may as well be PWC).

Growing up Jeff witnessed first hand the tremendous growth that transformed the sleepy farms of Somerset County, NJ into the uncontrolled bedroom communities of New York City. Jeff watched as his Grandfather's peach and apple orchards in Bridgewater, NJ were turned into an industrial park. In Middlesex County, NJ our neighborhood roads went from gravel to superhighways and uncontrolled development in less than 10 years. Moving to the Southwest (Las Cruces, NM) to attend college, Jeff had the first hand knowledge of how fragile a desert ecosystem can be and how any damage done can have everlasting effects on the environment.

Eventually moving to Northern Virginia, Jeff went to work for the Environmental Protection Agency to affect environmental changes he thought necessary. Jeff quickly learned that changes in Washington come slowly, but he was determined to continue on his quest. Watching Fairfax's growth turn into an uncontrollable giant the family moved to Prince William County, where growth had not yet taken complete control. But development took hold and when a Director's position opened in the Prince William Soil & Water Conservation District Jeff sought the opportunity to change the future direction of the County and make a difference from an elected position. Jeff learned early that success depended on being competitive, but also in being able to compromise.  Jeff's first three years in elected office was an overwhelming success. See Jeff's
accomplishments for a complete overview of his term in office.
