Farm Field Day
October 24, 2001

The Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District will hold its annual Farm Field Day for fourth grade students on October 24th, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Prince William County Fairgrounds.

Over 900 students, parents, and teachers from Prince William County and Manassas City public and private schools will participate in activities focusing on agriculture in Prince William County and Virginia. Many of the exhibits will directly support the Virginia Science and Social Studies Standards of Learning (SOLs).

Topics include "From Horsepower to High-Tech," "The Versatile Soybean," "Agricultural Products of the Regions of Virginia," and various themes on livestock and crops. Students will learn about past and present technology used in agriculture, see cows, sheep and other animals at various stages of development, discover the #1 cash crop of Prince William County, and understand why renewable resources are so important.

Volunteers are needed for preparation and the day of the event. If you would like to be a part of this exciting event, call Nancy at the Prince William Soil and Water Conservation District Office: (703) 361-1710.
