Sweep `old leaves' out of office The election season is upon us and this time it really counts. Will we move forward in ways that will enhance quality of life and preserve personal freedoms? Or will we continue business as usual, with worsening schools, increasing traffic congestion, continuing environmental degradation, loss of open space and a lack of vision? Mark Warner has a better idea and a realistic vision for the future and the business acumen to make it happen. Tim's Kaine's ideas about transportation solutions, environmental protection, preservation, help for the elderly and focus on education are the right ideas. Donald McEachin's concern for safety in our schools and determination to uphold laws to protect the environment are on the right track. Jeff Guide (candidate for Prince William County Soil and Water Conservation director) has a better idea: Don't let pollution happen and make those who allow it to happen foot the bill for taking care of the cleanup. If you live in the 51st District and like the many positive and sensible things Denise Oppenhagen has said, then seriously consider voting for her. If you live in the 31st District, vote for Mickie Krause. She understands the issues well and will promote them forcefully in Richmond. And if you live in the 13th District, vote for Lou Brooks if you care about our public schools and education, or if you think land use and transportation are intimately connected and cannot be dealt with in isolation. We are fortunate to have some truly talented and
dedicated candidates running for office. It's our choice and our future. ROBERT B. MOLER Prince William Daily Journal - October 3, 2001 |
